Hero Ignitor - Hero Motocorp's New Baby

Hero Ignitor one of the brand new babies of Hero Motocorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of two wheelers. After the parting of ways between Hero and Honda, the bikes from Hero Motocorp are all being designed to take on the Honda bikes. Going by that trend the Hero Ignitor is Hero Motocorp's reply to the Stunner from Honda.

Hero Ignitor Features & Specifications

The Hero Ignitor features a 125cc ATFT engine. This stands for Advance Tumble Flow Induction Technology. The ATFT ensures that air and fuel mixture flows from the carburetor to the engine cylinder with a tumbling or swirling action. As a result the rider will get more efficient fuel burning. You will get more power for your bike, lesser emissions and will save more on the fuel.

The 125cc ATFT, single cylinder, air cooled engine provides a maximum of 11 PS power at 8800 RPM. The engine is painted in black that makes the bike look more classy and elegant. The vacuum slide helps to provide varying venture size and thus maintains constant velocity. The 5 transmission gear allows you to ride the bike and change the gears effortlessly.

 The Hero Ignitor comes equipped with a digital speed panel and an analog RPM meter. The split seat will allow you a better grip over the bike while riding. Also it gives an altogether sporty look to the new Ignitor. Both you and your pillion rider will find the split seat comfortable. The bike is fitted with five spoke, alloy wheels that help to enhance the overall appearance of the bike and also comes with an option for a front disc brake. The rear view mirrors are dual tone and come in sleek, pointed hexagon design.

The use of tubeless tires in the Ignitor provides for an increased safety. The tubeless tires mean that even if there is a small puncture in the tire, it will only lead to a gentle deflation instead of the motorbike losing control in the middle of the road.

Besides focusing on increasing the sporty look, the manufacturers also focused on the bikes reliability and that is exactly why the Ignitor comes fitted with a maintenance free VLRA battery. As far as mileage is concerned, the mileage of Ignitor is around 60kmpl. This bike will arrive in the market sometime in the first quarters of 2012 and its price is expected to be around Rs 48,000.

Land Rover Discovery 4

Building off-roaders ! then there is only one manufacturer that knows the things, it's Land Rover. The Land Rover Discovery 4 is also one of the best family cars you can buy. Land Rover isn’t resting on its laurels, and there's a more refined Discovery for 2012. Discovery 4 has a more progressive and contemporary exterior, giving it a redefined presence on and off road.

One area where the Disco package fell down was with its high emissions figures. But for 2012 Land Rover has introduced two power outputs for the 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbodiesel. The higher powered version has jumped from 242bhp to 252bhp, but emissions have dropped from 244g/km to 230g/km, bringing the Discovery in line with the most efficient off-roaders available. Even better than that, the entry-level diesel, which makes 208bhp, has emissions of 224g/km, which drops the Discovery down two road tax bands.

The new engine is only part of the story, as all cars get an eight-speed ZF gearbox which is more efficient than the seven-speed unit it replaces. It’s operated with a Jaguar XF-style dial selector that rises from the centre console, which is a neat touch. Discovery 4 is available with new LR-TDV6 3.0 Advanced Sequential Turbo Diesel engine delivers an increased performance, Torque and economy.

Elsewhere inside, the touchscreen sat-nav system has been given a makeover with bolder graphics, there’s polished silver trim on the centre console and doors, and all models in the range now get a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

The Discovery’s talent for carrying passengers hasn’t changed, and the cabin is big, airy and comfortable. With most tactile interior and innovative design, maximizes space featuring seven full - size adult seats in three rows. There’s room for three adults in the back, while another pair of seats can be found in the boot, which further adds to the Discovery’s versatility.

 

On the road, the Discovery is a comfortable cruiser that’s capable of covering long distances with ease. You have a commanding view of the road ahead, while the new high-power diesel has plenty of punch to make light work of the Disco’s weight. In fact, the only time you’re really aware of the car’s size is under heavy braking.

The new eight-speed auto shifts smoothly, which makes the wheel-mounted paddleshifters somewhat redundant, and it kicks down quickly when you need extra power, although it does seem to do this quite frequently when you’re on the move.

Of course, where the Discovery really stands apart from other family cars is the fact that it can tackle virtually any terrain you throw at it. Discovery 4 - Land Rover's unique Terrain Response System features a new, more conveniently located dial which provides optimum settings for all driving conditions. Simply switch Land Rover’s Terrain Response system to the setting you require, and the Discovery can go places where even rival SUVs would fear to tread.

KTM 200 Duke : Dealer Test Ride

If you’ve been following our Duke 200 coverage so far, you know that we’ve ridden the bike on Bajaj’s test track and came away with mixed feelings. Sure, the Duke is fast, light and in a class of its own.
